Miracles in the Making: Grant Recipient Ashley Reed

Ashley Reed is one of our recent grant recipients. Ashley is a beautiful young woman who was recently diagnosed with colon cancer at the age of 29. You can read more about Ashley's story and receive updates at: Ashley's Caring Bridge

Ashley recently blogged about MMCCF. Here is what she wrote about us:

"Meredith's Miracles is a foundation that provides miracles in the form of financial support to colon and rectal cancer patients under the age of 40.  I became aware of the foundation from my friends at work, Mike and Tony.  They introduced me to the organization and recommended I fill out the application to see if I qualify.  I filled it out a couple of weeks ago and got a call Monday night letting me know that the organization has decided to grant us a miracle.  They are going to pay our July mortgage payment and send me a $200 gas gift card to cover my trips to and from treatments/doc appointments.  I was so overwhelmed with gratitude when I got the voicemail that I burst into tears.  Their generosity is going to enable us to pay off one of my medical bills completely.  Meredith's Miracles is truly a great organization that helps raise awareness of the disease.  They have a golf outing each spring in Cincinnati to help raise funds to grant miracles to people across the nation."

Thank you, Ashley for the kind words, but we are honored and thrilled to help you in your fight against colon cancer!! Please keep Ashley and her family in your prayers and check out her CaringBridge site to support and follow her story.

Annual MMCCF Golf Outing a Success!

The annual Meredith's Miracles Colon Cancer Foundation Golf Outing was a huge success! This year we tried a new format for the event by holding the silent auction and cocktail dinner on Friday night at Red Tree Gallery in Oakley. The night included live music from Velvet Soul, delicious appetizers, tasty beverages, and tons of fundraising for MMCCF! We had 65 supporters show up for the fabulous evening.  On Saturday, 65 golfers arrived at Legendary Run Golf Course in Cincinnati, OH to enjoy a day of golfing. Golfers were able to participate in several games that all supported MMCCF. The weekend raised $12,000 for MMCCF which allows us to keep granting miracles for families in need! A huge thanks to all of those who joined us for the event and if you are interested in attending our golf outing next year, please contact: hello@meredithsmiraclesfoundation.org

Miracles in the Making: Grant Recipient Rob Linger

Robert Linger is 37 years old and a loving husband and busy father of three. Robert lives in Wisconsin with his wife Maryann, two daughters, and one son.  Before being diagnosed with stage 4b colon cancer in October of 2012, Robert was a very active dad.  He coached his two daughters' soccer teams and his son's soccer team.  When soccer was not in season he enjoyed playing baseball and coaching wrestling with his son and playing tennis with his girls.  Since being diagnosed, his life has obviously taken a complete turn.

Meredith's Miracles granted Rob and his family a grant of $845, which will cover their phone bill, car payment, gas bill, electric bill, and Internet/TV bill for one month.  Please keep Robert and his family in your thoughts and prayers as he continues to fight this disease.

Miracles in the Making: Grant Recipient Kyle Lovering

Kyle Lovering is a 27 year old husband to Kaylee and dedicated father to two children: Kyler, age 7 and Kylee, age 4.  He lives in Florida and loves cheering on his favorite baseball team: The Tampa Bay Rays.  He enjoys skate boarding, drawing, and of course playing with his two kids!

Kyle was diagnosed with colorectal cancer in 2010.  He has gone through numerous treatments of radiation and chemo, and surgery to remove his cancerous mass.  The cancer has spread to his lymph nodes and lungs.  He has recently been in and out of the hospital due to infections and complications.  He is currently starting another round of chemo after being off for 131 days.  Meredith's Miracles granted Kyle and his family $790 to cover two months of bills (Gas to and from chemo, Car insurance, Phone bill, Daycare costs). We hope that this grant will give Kyle and his lovely family a little support through their fight against colon cancer.
